With a son who are allergic to peanuts I can tell there have been moments of fear and some difficult with explaining the problem in other languages.

Until now we have asked the hotel-staff to write a note to us, to show on restaurants and so on, but now I have found a sight with a food-lexicon in 25 languages (Europe) and the text "I´m allergic to" in current interest. Now we can print out the text from home before we travel!

The address are: http://www.ecc-kiel.de/EVZkiel/food-infos/allergylexicon.html

Example: "I´m allergic to peanuts" :

Spanish: Soy allergico contra cacahuetes

Italian: Io sono allergico a arachidi

Turkish: Fistik karsi alerjim var

France: Je suis allergique a arachides

German: Ich habe eine allergie gegen erdnuss

Finnish: Minulla on maapähkinä allergia

Today Apollo start their sells of travelpackages to Thailand for the winter 2008-2009!! In may this year we booked our coming trip to Cambodia and Thailand and I thought that was early as we don´t go before the middle of februar 2008...
Do we already have to book the trips for 2008/2009 even if we don´t go with charter...?

What do you think about this early bookings?

If you are travelling and have to change airplane on your way, tell the staff where you do your check-in, to check-in the luggage all the way to the end-destination. Some will say this is not possible but it is! You just need to show your ticket to the other flight when you do the check-in in Sweden.

We did that when we travel´d to Koh Samui from Gothenburg (with stop ang change of airplane in Bkk) and it worked! Our friends, who not did this, had to check-out and then check-in their luggage again in Bangkok. We who had done this already in Sweden cold just relax, eat some food and wait for the next flight =)

Unfortunately I haven´t been there but if I ever go to Thailand in november I won´t miss the Elefan Round-up Festival!

The popular Elefant Round-up Festival have been organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (T.A.T) since 1960 (!) and you can expect a historical and memorabel event with more than 100 elefants who take part in a display of grace, strenght, intellegent games of soccer, log-carrying and the best (?) a tug-of-war against human teams.

I dont know if there still are any tickets left but T.A.T are organising a railway tour covering the festival. A package that include a three days and two nights tour and all fees (for an example the entrance.fee to the elefant Round-up Show and Phanom Rung Historical park), transportation and meals.

At the same trip you will visit the Chan Sopha Silk-weaving Group wich is well-known for it´s fine gold brocade work. Maybe you will find and make a nice deal on "royal souvenirs" as they have made souvenirs for Royal guests.

Price for the package are only 3.970 Baht per person (less than 400 SEK for a three day experince of your lifetime!)

If you have been there already or are planning to go there, please show us some pictures and tell us more!

For several years we have tried to book another destination than Thailand for our vaccations but...we always book Thailand because we love it so much!

Now, in 2008, we are going back (and will also do a short trip to Angkor Wat in Cambodia) but we have also planned to do a trip with some friends 2009 and are now wondering if we on that trip, should choose Malysia insted of Thailand?

Have you been in both Thaialnd and Malaysia? Please tell us which one of theese You prefer and why and where you stayed!

Take care everyone!
