For my English speaking friends

Just wanted to give you something from my stay here in Rotterdam.

Was out with Marco at Rotown at Binnenweg here in Rotterdam yesterday. That was okej, had a couple of bev, met some of my Swedish friends here and saw some really strange people dancing like Iggy Pop.
Ok, take it from the beginning.
To be really honest it started out pretty bad. When I moved in I didn’t really care how my room was and me and the Dutch guy that let me rent this room of him had a very short while when we were going to sort out everything about the housing...and of course he wanted to(or was it me?) show me his favourite kebab. He left far to much I later realized. Now that is sorted out, his dad came and took the winter clothes away.

Then my left eye. Really warm and sunny weather mixed with showers (rain that is)and sometimes (quite often) really strong wind gave me the cold. In about three weeks I suffered from that shit. And worst was my left eye that was completely blood red half of it. Not fun to go around looking like a monster! Besides the uni is a Mickey Mouse-university. No one knows anything about anything really.
But now I am well, have had time to find my ways in the streets of Rotterdam, have rent a dead cheap luxurious bike and have stopped to shop my groceries at Albert Heijn. I thought that was the nearest shop and that Albert Heijn chain was relatively cheap. Answer is NO in both issues. I realised this after more than a month here in Rotterdam, at my street Rochussenstraat! This when I bought two avocados … for € 2! I realised it was time to find another provider. And I find one (probably a few metres closer) and with a good planning with the shelves inside the shop so that you find what you want quick. And the staff actually helps you if you ask them. Great! And it is cheaper as well.

So things start to work out well. Add then, today has been a really good day. Yeah I know it is Sunday but anyway. I was out yesterday but was determined to be studying early. Ok that didn’t happened but I did study hard in three, four hours, then I took my brothers minidisc and took a long walk. With good music in my ears I thought I would see some of my neighbourhood. I did. And after about two hours I know a part of this city that I have to visit more often. Actually two different parts, both just around the corner from where I live. Until today I have just been walking towards the Uni and towards the city centre or taking the metro. Today, in a sunny beautiful weather, I find Old Delfshaven, like a small harbour for fisherman’s boats, but there were all kinds of boats but they had that in common that they all were old and very beautiful. Cannot describe why but the feeling walking there was something like walking in the old city Visby in Sweden. But better! I mean the feeling that you have moved back in time. You can also find a wind mill and a lot of nice small pubs and restaurants and some art galleries.
Today, I also find out that if you go three or four blocks, in any direction, you find areas with bars, pubs with pool tables and of course Coffee shops.

Now, I will just relax, sit in my comfortable arm chair and watch some movie. We have a false server here in my building with a lot of movies and TV-series. Think I might take Fahrenheit 11 this time.
