beloved Sydney and Ayr
the biggest misstake anyone can do is to ask me something about my time in oz. if they do ill start telling my story slowly but when i get started i cant stop!
when i first got back home i didnt have much to tell, my friends and family asked a lot but its hard to tell them about my trip. so much happened, i was away for a whole year, its hard to describe a year of your life in a few sentences.
now when ive been home for a while and still think constantly about my great time over there, i can talk for hours!
Sydney, such a great city! remember one saturday night, i only had two days left in the country. we didnt go out clubbing as we usually did, we went down to the main street, George st, and just started to walk up and down the street. the city was alive! 10pm the street was full of cars with young partying people in them. the music was pumping from every car. boys and girls were shouting, pumping the horns and laughing. they were all on their way to different parties. it was great just walking there and watching the night getting started. fell in love with sydney from the first day and that saturday i felt that this great city always gonna stay in my heart!
i stayed in sydney quite a long time, longer than expected, my plan was to actually start travelling the country after a few days but we had so much fun there so i ended up spending all my money there and after borrowing some money to do smaller trips to melbourne and New Zealand i ended up broke and felt like i had to leave the city as i couldt find any work. loved oz and thought that fruitpicking could be a good idea, since u can get a second year visa if u pick for three months.
called the Harvest line and they told me to go up to Ayr, a smalltown an hour south of townsville. to be honest i didnt wanna go but i had no choise. Im so happy i did it!
Ayr- population 8000. a lot of houses, six pubs and one main street, queen st, the only street.
i had the best time over there! Ayr is the first place ill go to when i get back to oz!
worked everyday picking zucchinis. early start, 6am and we worked 7-10hours a day on the fields in 35 degrees. the best thing with the hostel if u compare to other hostels i've been to, everyone was in the same situation. we were all tired and muddy after work which made us a big family instead of just backpackers passing through. we were all there cause we were broke so everyone had to stay for a while to save up for the next big trip.
i ended up staying for 4,5months. didnt save that much money cause i spent it every weekend at queens hotel, the greatest pub ever! i got to know quite a lot of local people and i had my backpacker friends, that made all my partying nights great. it was a great feeling walking in to the pub and knowing u had friends all over the place!
leaving Ayr was the first time i cried in oz. it hurt so much leaving my friends there, not knowing if i was ever gonna see them again. no it seems like i will, after all im going back there, arent i? =)
enough for this time! told u, i cant stop once i get started!
