When travelling in Croatia we wanted to do a wine tasting with local wines. Living in an AirBnB apartment in Kaštel (between Trogir and Split) we asked our superhost Joško to recommend us some kind of tasting.
We were lucky, in Kaštel there was a new business called The Wine carriage Split. We decided to try it out. And guys, did we have a tremendous evening? Yes, we did!
I´ll try to tell you about one of the most lovely evenings we have experienced
The tour started in family Kapovs beautiful garden. On their porch we were warmly welcomed, as friends of their family, with tables full of food, wine and sweet/cakes.
We enjoyed prosciutto, different cheese, anchovy, olives and bread, meantime tasting a couple of local wines.
Next stop at our tour was the to see the 1500 year old olive tree Mastrinka. Our guide told us the history and stories meanwhile travelling with family Kapovs horse carriage. Did I mentioned that tree generations Kapovs joined as drivers of the carriage? Dressed in national costumes they enhanced the impression even more.
At local winery Vujina we enjoyed more food (cheese, olives, bread etc) The tables was set in the production area, the proud owner told us about the process making his wines.
Travelling along the beach path we felt like movie stars in the horse carriage, people waving and filming us make it even more exclusive. At the beach, we stayed at the small and beautiful castle Vitturi, where our guide told us the love story Miljenko & Dobrila.
Next stop was at Perišin winery, the owner told us the story of his family, the heritage of tradition making wine. Of course even Perisin offered different enjoyable local wines for tasting (and of cause some delicious cheese, olives and prosciutto)
Just when we taught the evening was about to end, we went back to family Kapovs garden and was totally amazed over what they served – the best grilled lamb with potatoes and fresh salad.
We can´t describe how wonderful this evening was! You have to experience by your selves!

Hej!
