The Palace of Monserrate

In 1856 the English millionaire Sir Francis Cook acquired the estate of Monserrate and recreated the palace and the park in the Romantic style so fashionable in the 1900 Century. The palace was the Cook family's summer residence. And the lawn in front of it was the first one planted in Portugal
