Dag för dag: Resealbumet "Ecuador & Galapagos" av Lime82

15 januari 2007 - Olón, Ecuador
We have finally arrived in Ecuador! After a nightmare flight of almost 20 hours with 2 stopovers I'm beat. Add on that it's almost 95% humidity and 35 degrees outside it's not much more that you can do than sleep and take a stroll on the 15 kilometers long beach.

24 januari 2007 - Galapagos, Ecuador
It's quite a gamble to go to Galapagos islands with out having a booked boat reservation. Most of the time all boats are fully booked and if you don't have that much time to spend looking for a trip it can be quite the disappointment to get there and not getting around due to no available boats. But if you have time you can make quite the bargain.

We managed to book 2 last minute beds of a superior class yacht for the extreme good price of 310 USD per person. Normal price you ask? Lets try 3000 EUR per person...

31 januari 2007 - Guayaquil, Ecuador
If you visit Guayaquil you have to visit the old town by night!
It's built on a slope so it's quite tough work to get up and around but it's well worth it.
From the top of the old lighthouse in old town you have an splendid view over the whole town and by night it really glows! (check my picture)

It's well worth the more than 400 steps to get up there ;-)
3 februari 2007 - Quito, Ecuador
Have you ever tried to balance an egg on any of the short ends? It's quite hard I'd say. But if you are in Quito you have to visit the Equator Museum. Right on the equator line you can balance that egg on a nail cause both magnetic poles are equally strong. Check out my album to see for youself!
5 februari 2007 - Papallacta, Ecuador
Backpacking can from time to time be quite exhausting. Lots of stuff to carry around, don't know where to go or sleep and so on...

So we decided to check in to a five star spa approximately 3 hours away from Quito.
Place is named Termas Papallacta and is a hot spring spa up in the Andean mountains. They lead hot water heated by lava deep down inside the montains. The resort is loacted at almost 6000 meters so the air is thin and takes some time to get adapted to, but it's well worth it.

They have a website, go check it out here: http://www.papallacta.com.ec/

This place is a "must-do" if you are in the surrounding area.
